现代意义的“画廊”一词源自意大利语的“galleria”，本意为走廊。
16世纪，欧洲贵族开始将所藏的艺术品在府邸回廊陈列展示，如乌菲兹宫的回廊。到19世纪，法国开始出现收藏、陈列或销售美术作品的机构，仍被称为“画廊”。
在A MEERKAT外场区延续了经典走廊的形制，沿墙面布置画作与艺术品；内场区则以主人会客厅的式样去承载更重磅的藏品和沙龙活动。
The modern term “gallery” is derived from Italian word “galleria”, which originally means corridor.
In the 16th century, European nobility began displaying their art collections in the corridors of their residences, such as the corridors of the Uffizi Palace. By the 19th century, institutions for collecting, displaying, or selling works of art began to appear in France, and they were still referred to as “art corridors.”
We have continued the classic corridor format in the outer space of A MEERKAT, arranging artworks and art pieces along the walls. In the inner space, we adopt a style similar to a host’s reception room to accommodate more significant collections and salon events.
一个带有质量的物体会在其周围的空间中形成引力场，而任何存在在这个空间中的其他带有质量的物体便会受到该引力场的影响——或远离或靠近，最终停留在彼此最舒服的位置。
我们希望在这个不大确承载了复合功能的场域找到其引力场的动态平衡——艺术与日常，熟悉与惊奇，秩序与动态，复古与未来。以手冲分享吧台为原点，越靠近中心越趋向于未来，离核心越远的则更回归古典，尝试探索并建立一种既古又新的空间语序。
We seek to explore and establish a spatial language that blends both the antique and the modern.
A massive object creates a gravitational field in the space around it, causing any other mass present in this space to be affected by it—either moving away from or towards it—and eventually settling into their most comfortable positions relative to each other.
We aim to establish a dynamic equilibrium in this multifunctional space that hosts various elements—art and everyday life, familiarity and wonder, order and dynamism, retro and future. Centered around a hand-brewed coffee sharing bar, the space leans towards the future as it approaches the core, while the periphery embraces classical influences.
于入口处布置了一个类似于传统酒店LOBBY的意式咖啡吧台，和消费级的艺术品陈列区域一起，形成了一个消费者更好走入内部空间的门廊。门廊延续向内，是在引力场的作用下，异化形成了有机造型的柱廊，和古典切片般的外立面。透过柱廊望向内部，是具有视觉冲击力的圆形手冲分享吧台，同时也是艺术分享的宣讲台。
At the entrance, there is a traditional Italian coffee bar reminiscent of a hotel lobby, complemented by a display area for consumer-grade artworks. Together, they form a portico that welcomes consumers into the inner space. This portico extends inward where, under the “influence of gravitational fields”, the space transforms into an organically shaped colonnade with classical sliced facades. Looking through the colonnade into the interior reveals a visually striking circular hand-brewed coffee sharing bar, doubling as a platform for art presentations.
卡座环绕着中心吧台和沿着柱廊布置，消费者可以根据当天的情绪选择不同引力值的座位——坐在中心吧台与咖啡师近距离探讨咖啡冲煮的艺术，或是倚靠弧形卡座区作为观众远距离观赏，抑或是在回廊一角自成一隅与艺术品单独对话。回廊卡座一侧是根据主题定期更换藏品的“奇珍异宝柜”（cabinetsof curiosities），而回廊的尽头则是每期的主题画，同时暗示着内场的入口。
Booths encircle the central bar and line the colonnade, allowing consumers to choose seats based on their mood and the gravitational pull of the day. They can sit at the central bar for close discussions with the barista about the art of coffee brewing, lean back in the curved booth area to observe from a distance, or find a corner in the corridor to engage in a private dialogue with the artworks.
One side of the corridor features “cabinets of curiosities,” where exhibits are regularly changed according to themes. At the end of the corridor is the thematic painting of each period, subtly indicating the entrance to the inner courtyard.

如果说空间本身也是艺术品，建筑师也算是进行创造的艺术家，一如艺术家在创作表达上的取舍，我们也尝试在设计表达和连接大众上找到平衡，寻找彼此之间“遥远的相似性”。而场域中的引力，不仅是形式上的吸引力，也是艺术和空间彼此的吸引力。
If we consider space itself as an artwork, architects are also creative artists. Just as artists make choices in their expressive creations, we too strive to find a balance in design expression and connecting with the public, seeking the “distant similarities” between each other. And the gravity within the space is not just a physical attraction, but also the mutual attraction between art and space itself.
当艺术品还未进场，空间自成一体，有一种远古的静谧；而当艺术品开始慢慢成为主角，空间也随即调整它的呼吸，完成每一个小宇宙的自洽。
Before the artwork enters the space, the space exists in a primordial tranquility; as the artwork gradually takes center stage, the space adjusts its breath accordingly, completing the coherence of each microcosm.
白天，忙碌穿梭于不同角色的人们在A MEERKAT以艺术和咖啡重新唤醒真实的自我；当夜幕降临，通过侧拉卷帘将空间围蔽成更有包裹感的私密场域，天花的灯膜也随之调整为落日模式，另一段更沉浸的旅程即将开启，新的角色即将上演。
During the day, busy individuals, assuming different roles, awaken their authentic selves at A MEERKAT through art and coffee. As night falls, the space transforms with side-pulled curtains creating a more intimate and enveloping atmosphere. The ceiling’s light membranes adjust to a sunset mode, signaling the start of a deeper journey. New roles are about to unfold on this stage.
当我们回望昨日的世界，或者仰望星辰，其实是在寻求人心深处的真实。也许在深圳快节奏的生活下，艺术的微光容易被忽略。希望A MEERKAT能成为钢铁森林中一个守本真心的起点，同时成为艺术家的引力场，吸引更多闪耀的艺术和人群，重拾那个群星闪耀的时代。
When we look back at yesterday’s world or gaze at the stars, we are actually seeking the truth deep within our hearts. Perhaps amidst Shenzhen’s fast-paced life, the subtle glow of art is easily overlooked. We hope A MEERKAT can become a true starting point in the concrete jungle, and at the same time, be a gravitational field for artists, attracting more shining art and people, to rediscover that era when stars sparkled brightly.
